Mi köti össze Bartók Bélát és Richard Strausst? Például az, hogy mindketten a 20. század első felének korszakos szerzői voltak, akik hősi küldetéstudattal igyekeztek hatni a közönségre.
Míg Bartók I. zongoraversenye elsősorban a szakmának, a III. pedig feleségének szól, a II. zongoraverseny leginkább a közönségnek. Látványossága, közérthetősége, harsánysága egyaránt rendre a figyelem középpontjába helyezi. Richard Strauss bár soha nem jelentette ki, hogy a Hősi élet című mű hőse ő maga lenne, nem kell nagy fantázia ahhoz, hogy felfedezzük benne saját életének szereplőit. Fejérvári Zoltán szólójával és Rajna Martin vezetésével Bartók és Strauss hangzuhatagjai minden bizonnyal mély hatást tesznek a közönségre is, és elhozhatják az érzést, hogy mindannyian hősök vagyunk.

What connects Béla Bartók and Richard Strauss? For example, both of them were musical cornerstones in the first half of the 20th century; two composers tried to affect their audience with a heroic sense of obligation.
While Bartók’s Piano Concerto No. 1 addresses mainly his fellow musicians, his Piano Concerto No.3 talks mainly to his wife, and his No. 2 primarily to the audience. The latter’s spectacularity, accessibility and vividness put it invariably into the limelight. Although Richard Strauss never mentioned that he himself was the protagonist of his composition A Hero’s Life, we don’t need to strain our imagination to discover the characters of his life in it. With Zoltán Fejérvári’s solo and under Martin Rajna’s baton, Bartók and Strauss’ soundfalls will certainly make a profound impression on the audience and may evoke in us the sensation that we are all heroes.
